This weekend Damon and I drove to Plano, TX to attend the Mind Your Business Workshop taught by Stacy Reeves and in one word, it was overwhelming! Most of the time when people decide to start a business they know more about what they want to do (example: be a photographer) than how to run a business. The workshop was specifically for the business side of photography and it was great to hear insight from someone who’s lived through the trials of starting a business and coming out on the other end successfully. She gave us detailed information that only someone who has been in the business for many years could share. One point she drove home was having a consistent look and branding yourself. I’ve known this for awhile (considering I got my degree in graphic design) but started thinking of what I could do to have MY look and what I’d love to see over our product, blog, and website. I will be working on our new look and will hopefully be ready to release it into the world by early spring. She had some other awesome ideas that she uses and I can’t wait to get the products in order and share it with all of our future clients! Be prepared to be amazed!!
Something Damon and I took full advantage of was the art deco style hotel the workshop was held at. We rented a room and had our friend from Dallas come over for a photo shoot. Damon’s working on the photos and I really can’t wait to share them! Look for a sneak peek later on this week!
